Message From The National President:
A New Government, A Busy Year
By Bryan Lind
National President
After revolutionary changes to the National Constitution and Bylaws initiated by myself and National Executive Vice President Derrick Cabrera, the 2002 convention in St. Louis ended in the enactment of a completely new national government structure for ADG. The delegation of duties of the National Council and National Board of Directors into individual departments has led to an improvement in the performance of the national government. The government itself began to work more as a team, and our chapter have enjoyed better communication with the National. One year of trials and tribulations have now passed, and this new government is preparing for even further improvements during the coming year.
Over the past few years, ADG has also made great strides to keep up with the new technology. The National Council and webmasters Art Taylor (Kappa) and John Koehler (Zeta) presented a completely updated website at the 2003 National Conference at Alpha Chapter. The website was complete with information for the chapters, alumni, schools and interest groups. The creation of this state-of- the-art website has also aided in our renwed expansion efforts around the nation.
Once the new national government was in place, the National Council set its sites on issues regarding chapter governance. The Chapter Constitution and Bylaws Template was created in the image of the national structure in response to chapter complaints of lack of organization.

As several chapters adopted these templates, the National Council focused on the organization of the individual chapters. The Council is currently in the process of updating the Chapter President's Manual and the Chapter Protocol Manual to fit in with the new national and chapter government structures.
As many Council members were working hard with the active chapters, National Vice President of External Affairs Jim Smith was hard at work on expansion. With sound government structures in place at the national and local levels and the updated website, ADG began a major new expansion program. Many schools and interest groups were finally finding out why Alpha Delta Gamma was not just another social fraternity. This past March, an interest group at Philadelphia University was inducted as our new Philadelphia University Colony.
In closing, the past 12 months have been both challenging as well as rewarding in many ways, and I salute the rest of the Council as well as everyone involved in keeping ADG moving forward. I look forward to the coming year and to being able to report continued progress in the areas noted above as well as others, and as always, I welcome everyone's input and support.
Fraternally,
Bryan Lind
National President
