National President's Message: A Year of Growth

By BRYAN LIND
National President

This past year has proven to be a very productive and positive year for Alpha Delta Gamma. We started the year out in New Orleans at Convention with the addition of Bill Phelan as Vice President of Internal Affairs and Alex Razzook as the new Student Representative. Most of the Council had one year of experience with the new government organization under their belt, and was prepared to take on the new year with high hopes of expansion and an increased focus on chapter organization.

In the middle of the fall semester I announced that Mark Ryan was going to become the new moderator. Mark is an alumnus of Beta Chapter at Saint Louis University. He graduated from SLU and then took on the role of advisor for that chapter. He is currently finishing up his work at the seminary in preparation for becoming a Jesuit Priest. We are very excited to have him join the National Council.

The spring brought even more opportunities for inter-chapter growth and expansion. The website has been continually updated and modified. This publicity has increased the number of schools and interest groups contacting us for expansion at least ten-fold over previous years. Several of these groups have great potential of becoming a chapter of Alpha Delta Gamma.

In February the National Council met in Philadelphia for its Mid-Year Council meeting. The meeting was one of the most organized and productive meetings in previous history. The council was able to make time in the afternoon to meet with the Philadelphia University Colony and discuss their progress and future. The Council also had a chance to meet with an interest group from Chestnut Hill College, also in Philadelphia. In March the Council officially recognized the interest group at Chestnut Hill as our newest colony.

This year we will hold our National Convention in Fort Lauderdale from August 3-8. This year's convention will prove to be an exciting one with the election of the second council under the new government structure. Philadelphia University Colony will be officially inducted as the newest chapter at this convention. In addition, we'll also celebrate the 10th anniversary of Psi chapter at Barry University in Miami. If you would like to register for convention or would like more information, please visit our national website at www.alphadeltagamma.org.
